This beautiful one of a kind, hand-dyed textile puts a spin on spherical shapes and mesmerizing colors. Created with the batik process of waxing and dying combed cotton, initially dyeing the fabric with the ice dyeing method, this ethereal work of art is dynamic and bold.
About Kay Shaffer
Kay Shaffer is a self-taught textile artist specializing in fine art batik. She blends ancient techniques of waxing and dying cloth with her own brush and application techniques and combinations of dying methods to create vibrant, captivating artwork. She has pursued the art of batik with a personal challenge to create compositions that give a sense of fluidity and motion, convey space and depth and have saturation and brilliance of color. She hopes that they will exceed the expectations usually associated with an art form that has multiple phases of waxing a dying a simple piece of cloth.
